Electrical Electricians

About the Role

As an Electrical Electrician at Burkes Electrical, you’ll install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems that power heavy-industry operations. Work includes conduit and raceway installation, motor controls, MCCs, starters, VFDs, transformers, lighting, grounding, and control wiring for fabrication yards and field projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test power and control wiring in conduit, cable trays, and junction boxes.

• Set, wire, and commission motor control centers (MCCs), starters, VFDs, and soft starters.

• Read and follow electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and wiring prints.

• Perform motor and circuit troubleshooting, megger/insulation testing, and corrective repairs.

• Install and maintain transformers, distribution equipment, lighting systems, and grounding systems.

• Coordinate with instrumentation and controls teams to interface field devices with PLCs and control systems.

• Execute lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E arc-flash procedures, and other electrical safety protocols.

• Maintain accurate work logs, test records, and as-built documentation for electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 2+ years’ industrial electrical experience; apprenticeship or trade school background preferred.

• Comfortable pulling cable, making terminations, installing conduit and raceway, and working from lifts.

• Ability to read electrical prints, single-line diagrams, and basic control schematics.

• Strong safety mindset and good communication within multidisciplinary crews.

Preferred Certifications and Training

• Journeyman electrician license or equivalent trade qualification preferred.

• NFPA 70E arc-flash awareness, OSHA 10/30, confined space, and hot work awareness as required by project.

• NCCER electrical curriculum, vocational training, or military electrical experience is a plus.

• Basic PLC/addressable I/O familiarity, HART/Modbus exposure, and VFD configuration experience advantageous.

• Aerial lift / scissor lift certification and rigging fundamentals helpful.
