Civil Assistant Manager

About the Role

As an Assistant Manager at Burkes Civil, you'll lead civil crews to deliver precise industrial foundations, site work, and structural concrete that support heavy-industry operations. This role partners with project management and field teams to keep civil scopes on schedule, compliant, and safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day civil field activities including foundations, excavation, grading, and concrete placement.

• Coordinate crew assignments, equipment, and sequencing to meet project schedules and quality standards.

• Perform plan take-offs, support estimating, and verify material lists for civil scopes.

• Ensure permitting, safety controls, and site-specific procedures are enforced for hot work, lifts, and confined-space operations.

• Communicate progress, challenges, and resource needs to project managers and stakeholders.

• Mentor field staff, document competencies, and support crew training and development.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3–5 years of field management experience in civil construction.

• Experience with plan take-offs and estimating.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; Microsoft Projects preferred.

• Civil Engineering degree preferred but not required.

Preferred Certifications and Training

• OSHA 10/30, confined space, hot work, and site-specific safety tickets as required by project.

• NCCER or similar trade credentials and previous supervisory training are a plus.
