About the Role

As an Electrical Instrument Fitter at Burkes Electrical you’ll install, calibrate, maintain and repair field instrumentation, control devices and associated electrical wiring that keep heavy-industry systems operating safely and reliably. You’ll work on pressure/temperature/level/flow transmitters, control valves, junction boxes, cable routings and PLC/RTU interfaces across refinery, petrochemical, power and industrial process projects. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate and test instrument and control wiring, tubing and fittings.

  • Mount and calibrate transmitters, gauges, switches and control devices; verify signal integrity.

  • Read and apply P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrumentation drawings and wiring schematics.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and field calibrations per manufacturer specs.

  • Support mechanical and electrical teams during commissioning, tie-ins and turnarounds.

  • Maintain accurate test/calibration records and complete work orders. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3+ years’ experience in industrial instrumentation/electrical installation or equivalent trade experience.

  • Comfortable with cable pulling, grounding, terminations and reading instrumentation drawings.

  • Experience working offshore/refinery or large plant construction environments preferred. 

Preferred Training and Certifications

  • Technical training or certificate in Instrumentation, I&C or related trade (apprenticeship or technical college). 

  • Familiarity with PLC basics, HART communication, loop calibrators, and standard calibration procedures.

  • OSHA 10/30, confined space, hot work, and site-specific safety tickets as required by project.

  • Vendor-specific training (Emerson/ABB/Endress+Hauser) a plus.
