Electrical Supervisor

About the Role

As an Electrical Supervisor at Burkes Electrical you’ll lead electrical crews to execute installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial power and control systems. You’ll coordinate crews, enforce electrical standards and safety protocols, and partner with project management to deliver quality work on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day electrical work: assign crews, sequence tasks, and track progress against project schedules.

• Oversee installation and commissioning of power distribution, motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, lighting, grounding, and raceway systems.

• Review and enforce electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and wiring schematics; verify as-built documentation.

• Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for motor/control issues, circuit faults, and electrical testing (megger/insulation, motor tests).

• Ensure LOTO, NFPA 70E arc-flash controls, and all site-specific electrical safety procedures are strictly followed.

• Coordinate with instrumentation, controls, mechanical, QA/QC and project managers to resolve technical issues and keep milestones on track.

• Mentor electricians and apprentices: document competencies, provide on-the-job training, and support skill progression.

• Manage vendor/contractor interfaces for specialized electrical scopes and ensure compliance with client specifications and codes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Journeyman electrician, or equivalent industrial electrical experience with at least 5 years in the trade and 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.

• Strong ability to read and enforce single-line diagrams, control schematics, and electrical installation drawings.

• Proven experience with motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and distribution equipment.

• Demonstrated leadership, planning, and communication skills for coordinating crews and interfacing with project teams.

Preferred Certifications and Training

• Journeyman or Master electrician license preferred where applicable.

• NFPA 70E arc-flash awareness, OSHA 30, confined space, and other site-specific safety tickets.

• NCCER electrical credentials, vocational/apprenticeship training, or military electrical experience are a plus.

• Familiarity with PLC I/O, basic PLC troubleshooting, and control system interfaces advantageous.

• Aerial lift, rigging fundamentals, and first-aid/CPR certification helpful.
