with Forming Experience

About the Role

As a Fabricator with forming experience at Burkes Fabrication, you’ll set up and operate forming equipment to produce precision-formed parts and subassemblies. You’ll work from drawings and bend charts, collaborate with fitters and welders, and ensure formed components meet dimensional and weld-ready requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate press brakes, plate rollers, slip rolls, and bending/forming fixtures.

• Read and apply fabrication drawings, bend charts, templates, and forming schedules.

• Perform part layout for forming operations and verify bend angles, springback, and tolerances.

• Select tooling and dies, make press-brake and roll adjustments for repeatable accuracy.

• Trim, deburr, notch, and mark formed parts for fit-up and welding.

• Collaborate with layout techs, fitters, and welders to sequence assemblies and ensure weld readiness.

• Maintain tooling and machines, perform pre-shift checks, and report defects.

• Complete dimensional checks, maintain part traceability, and support QA/NDT prep when required.

• Follow machine guarding, lockout/tagout, hot work permitting, and all site safety procedures.

• Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, fit-up quality, and safe practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years’ hands-on forming or fabrication experience (press brake, plate roll, slip roll, or similar).

• Ability to read basic fabrication drawings, bend tables, and perform shop math for bend deduction.

• Familiarity with tooling setup and safe operation of forming equipment.

• Comfortable with shop work (lifting, hoisting, working at heights as required).

• Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, fit-up quality, and safe practices.

Preferred Certifications and Training

• Press brake/operator training or vendor-specific machine training preferred.

• NCCER fabrication curriculum, trade school, or apprenticeship experience a plus.

• OSHA 10 (or 30), forklift certification, and hot work awareness preferred.

• Welding exposure or basic welding qualification (SMAW/GMAW/FCAW) advantageous.
