About the Role

As a Millwright Superintendent at Burkes Mechanical you’ll lead and oversee millwright crews across industrial job sites. This role is responsible for overseeing all millwright activities, including installation, maintenance, repair, and alignment of industrial machinery and equipment. This role provides leadership to millwright crews, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and serves as a key liaison between field operations, project management, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and lead millwright crews on industrial job sites

  • Plan and oversee machinery installation, maintenance, repairs, shutdowns, and turnarounds

  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, OSHA, and customer standards

  • Review drawings, specifications, and work plans to ensure accurate execution

  • Monitor labor hours, productivity, and material usage to meet schedules and budgets

  • Conduct jobsite inspections and lead safety meetings (toolbox talks)

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide technical support to crews

  • Coordinate with project management, engineers, vendors, and clients

  • Mentor, train, and evaluate millwright personnel

  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and daily job logs

  • Enforce quality control standards and verify work meets project specifications

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred

  • 7+ years of millwright experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery installation, alignment, rigging, and maintenance

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

  • Solid understanding of OSHA and industrial safety standards

  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities simultaneously

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Computer proficiency

  • Experience working on industrial job sites, manufacturing plants, or heavy industrial environments

  • Shutdown and turnaround planning experience preferred

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work for extended periods

  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and shutdowns as required

  • Travel to jobsites as required
